Small Business Seminar - Culture as a Legacy: Navigating Succession Planning with an Ownership Mindset

Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (8:15 AM - 9:30 AM) (EDT)

Description

Looking at culture in business is a critical component of long-term success, especially when considering transitions like succession planning. Every company has a culture, and a good one boots profitability, reduces turnover and fosters innovation. By treating culture as a strategic asset rather than an afterthought, businesses can create a "Line of Sight" where every associate understands their personal impact on the company's valuation and long-term future. Even if your business right now is only you, customers and clients will appreciate your vision for how you want your legacy to look.

In her role as Executive Director for the Georgia Center for Employee Ownership (GACEO), Marie Davis is responsible for establishing the network of partners and delivery of programming necessary for the GACEO to carry out its mission of the creation of new employee-owned companies throughout all of Georgia. By providing unbiased education, outreach, and technical assistance on all forms of employee ownership, business owners can objectively research succession planning options. In addition to her passion for employee ownership, Marie is also passionate about providing opportunities for all children through mentoring programs. Using her degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia, Marie has spent many years in different roles in the mentoring filed including the Director of Mentoring for Center Point, a non-profit in Hall County Georgia and a Technical Assistant for mentoring.org, the National MENTOR program. Marie is a lifelong Georgia native – Go Dawgs!
